Whatever the size of your group, we’ll guarantee you’ll have a great day out! Enjoy FREE entry (we reserve the right to charge for special events.) FREE coach parking and a calendar of special events and exhibitions.
Discover over three million objects including everything from the record-breaking Mallard, to Queen Victoria’s favourite carriage and the innovative Japanese Bullet Train. Your visit will be brought to life with daily talks and demonstrations or why not join a tour of our warehouse – home to thousands of treasures from porcelain dinner services to model locomotives?
There’s plenty to see so take time out to relax in our onsite café and restaurant or peruse our gift shop for a unique souvenir to take home.
FREE coach parking
FREE all day coach parking is available when you pre-book (ideally with 48 hours notice).
The museum is only 10 minutes walk from the centre of historic York. A road train runs between the museum and York Minster every 30 minutes, daily from Easter to October.
Group guided tours
Our entertaining and informative group tours are the ideal way to discover the museum. We can tailor a tour to suit your group, including partially sighted and disabled visitors. Tours last from 45 minutes upwards and cost £30 for 1-10 people and £50 for 11-20 people. Prices for larger groups are available on request.

The Yorkshire Wheel
Riding the Yorkshire Wheel is great fun for groups of all sizes! Enjoy stunning bird’s-eye views over the city of York and surrounding countryside on our gigantic observation wheel - the biggest in Yorkshire! You’ll gain unrivalled views over the city, including the famous York Minster and the river Ouse, as you soar 60 metres into the sky.
We offer a special discount rate of £6.00 per adult and £4.00 per child (4-12 years) for groups of 20+ riding the Yorkshire Wheel. Please telephone0844 815 3139 to book your group visit.
