Press OfficeIn a spin over 'Please Touch' eventThis June, the National Railway Museum (NRM) will again be welcoming visitors to its annual “Please Touch” event - a fantastic FREE* experience for people with sensory, mobility or learning difficulties. As well as providing these visitors with the chance to participate in many activities including drum workshops, rides on the miniature railway and the ‘Sensory Station’, this year there will be something extra on offer – the chance to ride the Yorkshire Wheel, free of charge until 6pm and free rides on the Simulator until 7.45pm! Please Touch takes place every year at the NRM and aims to provide a fun and interactive free* day out. This year’s event will take place on 17 June 2008 from 3pm until 8pm and people should pre-book their place in advance. Please visit www.nrm.org.uk for more details. Jon Pridmore, from the NRM’s Learning Department, said: “Please Touch is part of the NRM’s commitment to opening up access to the Museum and its collections to the widest possible audience, as well as offering the chance to join in with our action-packed programme of events and activities! Everyone will have the chance to handle objects, ride the Yorkshire Wheel, and learn about the National Collection in a fun and unique way."*All of the activities described are supervised by NRM staff and volunteers and are free of charge (except purchases from the shop and restaurant). The Yorkshire Wheel will be open until 6:00pm only – last ride at 5.45pm. May 2008 |
