Press OfficeLove makes the wheel go roundIt’s that time of year again when hopeless romantics pull it out of the bag to woo their other halves…showing romance definitely isn’t dead! But this year, why not kick start it with a romantic spin on the Yorkshire Wheel? As part of this year’s Valentine’s Day celebrations, the Yorkshire Wheel is offering a special something to couples riding the Wheel on Thursday 14 February 2008. As well as enjoying the views of the city and beautiful countryside beyond, from 60 metres up, the first 50 couples on the Wheel will also receive a special Valentine’s treat. This year the 13-minute ride will be made that extra bit special with hand made luxury chocolates from Monk Bar Chocolatiers and a gorgeous individually wrapped red rose for the lady!
For those who have left the car at home, Moët champagne will also be available at a special Valentine’s half price rate of £10 per 37.5cl bottle, instead of the usual £20! So there really is no excuse not to make the most of this fantastic ride to get Valentine’s Day off to a spinning start. The Yorkshire Wheel has had a very romantic past! Last Valentine’s Day it proved to be the hottest new venue for romance when a very successful Speed Dating event took place. It has even seen one loved-up couple exchange vows at the top, while guests listened on from below! Anna Clark, Press Officer at the National Railway Museum, said: “Whether it’s a special treat or the right occasion to pop that special question, where better than looking out across one of the most beautiful cities in the World? The Wheel has already proved a great venue for romance, with everything from proposals to weddings to speed dating taking place, so anyone wanting a Valentine’s Day with a twist should definitely come along for the ride!” Residents and visitors to York should also keep a look out on the York skyline as the Yorkshire Wheel will be looking rosey red! 11 February 2008 |
