Egg spoting on the Yorkshire Wheel

Back by popular demand…this Easter the Yorkshire Wheel is once again offering the chance to win a fantastic luxury handmade Easter egg by taking part in the annual ‘Spot the Easter Egg’ competition.

From Thursday 20 March until Sunday 6 April visitors to the Yorkshire Wheel, based at the National Railway Museum (NRM), will be challenged to spot a colourful cut-out of a giant Easter Egg hidden somewhere on the rooftops of York. This will be a different location to last year!

To enter, all visitors have to do is watch out for the egg on the rooftops of York as they enjoy their ride on the Wheel, then mark its location on the entry form and post in the box provided.

The first correct entry out of the hat will win a luxury giant Easter egg, handmade by Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, plus a ride in the Wheel’s special VIP pod. There are also 20 runner-up prizes of seasonal treats!

Also this Easter, the National Railway Museum is celebrating all things Chinese. From 21 March until 6 April visitors can also enjoy 17 days of activities packed with the colours, tastes, sounds and sights of the Far East. With free of charge demonstrations and workshops, families will be able to learn about Tai Chi, Dragon Making and traditional crafts such as producing a kite or a lantern. Those who like a challenge can also try their hand at the ancient oriental strategy game GO.

To mark the NRM’s Chinese festival, the Yorkshire Wheel will also be being dressed up in an oriental theme!

Anna Clark, NRM Press Officer, said:

“As well as offering fantastic views of the city, the Yorkshire Wheel allows us to offer such a fun, unique competition for the Easter holiday period. We’re also excited that as well as the Spot the Easter Egg challenge, visitors will also be able to take part in the NRM’s Chinese celebrations.”
