Yorkshire Day
This Wednesday (1 August), visitors to the National Railway Museum (NRM) will be experiencing a taste of all things Yorkshire from Taylors famous teas to the gentlemanly cry of ‘ey up’!
This Yorkshire Day, the NRM is hosting a fun-packed day of events, in partnership with Yorkshire Tourist Board, which will all be themed around the county in question.

Running order:
- Doors open 10am (entrance is free to the NRM). All Yorkshire Day events will be taking place in the Station Hall and South Yard areas.
- From 10am to 8pm (last ticket sales at 7.30pm) ride the Yorkshire Wheel (*charges apply)…the first hundred riders on the Yorkshire Wheel on Yorkshire Day will be given a free ‘Wheely Good Bag’ full of souvenirs!
- 11am to 2pm - Come and pet the Donkeys – complete with straw hats – who are bringing the beach to our backyard (from the EST, Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys)
- 11am to 4pm Punch and Judy Guild member David Reid-Frow will be carrying out a traditional seaside show on the hour, every hour, with balloon-making and general merry-making in-between!
- 11am to 1pm - Yorkshire County Cricket Club Academy players James Finch and Simon Tennant recreate the lovely sound of Sunday afternoons as they teach the art of batting and bowling!
- 2pm to 4pm - Dance the afternoon away with professional dance instructor Darren Hodgson from the Harrogate Dance Centre. Darren will be leading a good old-fashioned Tea Dance then speeding up the rhythm with a 1950s jive session – prizes for the best couples!
- 1.45pm - A free prize-draw raffle to win a Bettys and Taylors hamper, which will be given away by Yorkshire Tourist Board.
- 11am to 4pm - Face Painting.
- 10am to 4pm - Stalls with goodies and giveaways from various companies!
- 10am to 6pm - Put Yourself in the Picture…time for visitors to dress up and have photos taken against a beautiful seaside backdrop.
- 10am to 6pm - Join the Family Fun Trail of Yorkshire Roses around the Station Hall for the chance to win a prize!
- Throughout the day…take a ride on the Miniature Railway, at regular intervals!
