Press OfficeNRM welcomes back 'Thomas the Tank Engine'The National Railway Museum (NRM) will once again welcome ‘Thomas the Tank Engine‘ this coming February, but not only will it be a fantastically fun day out, it will offer a unique new learning experience for the whole family! Visitors will be invited to join the Number 1 blue engine at the annual event where they can also meet ‘Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller’ with ‘Fergus’ and ‘Daisy’. There will also be the chance to ride behind ‘Thomas’ with ‘Annie and Clarabel’ or on the ‘Troublesome Trucks’ behind ‘Diesel’. As well as the train rides, there will be the chance for children to have fun in the activity zone with face painting, badge making, mask making, and ‘Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller’ hat making as well as designing a ‘Thomas’ postcard and railway ticket. In addition there will be a ‘Thomas’ chill out zone, the miniature railway, ‘street’ entertainers and actors in character. Nina Baptiste, Education and Learning Manager at the NRM, said: “Our ‘Day Out With Thomas’ event will this year be educational as well as fun, for all our visitors. The event offers us the perfect opportunity to teach children a range of skills from more fun things such as art and design to more important issues such as rail safety. We feel this year’s event will be a superb experience for all who visit!” January 2007 |
