Press OfficeWill Rod think new model is sexy? With rock legend Rod Stewart revealing to the world last month that leggy blondes are not the only models he’s interested in, his fellow model railway fans are currently going loco for an exclusive new model on the market. The National Railway Museum (NRM) has joined up with Bachmann Europe Plc to produce a working miniature of a key exhibit in the national collection. The colourful Deltic Prototype model is now set to jet all over the world with pre orders coming in from as far afield as Canada and Australia. Judith Whittaker, Head of Commercial Development at the NRM, said: ”The Special Limited Edition commemorative set is due to hit the shelves in December but the NRM retail team have already been inundated with pre-orders. It’s the perfect Christmas present for anyone with a love of railways, so understandably it’s proving extremely popular - many collectors are making doubly sure they don’t miss out on this opportunity by ordering more than one!“ Given the recent news that Rod Stewart is a keen collector, the Deltic could already be destined for his Christmas stocking and with celebrities such as Phil Collins and Lionel Richie also reported to have dabbled in the hobby, this historic new model could be the coolest Christmas gift on the block. The 500 Special Limited Edition commemorative sets are available exclusively from the NRM from mid December and retail at £140.00 + P&P. A further 2500 Limited Edition standard sets of the 00 gauge working model are to follow in January 2008 at a cost of £95 + P&P. Judith concluded: “Each purchase supports the work of the NRM and we hope that if this project proves a success we will be adding more to the National Collection in miniature.” 14 November 2007 |
