Press OfficeNRM drums up "Please Touch" eveningIf you hear the sound of distant drums this summer don’t be too surprised if it’s coming from the National Railway Museum. The Drum Circle Workshop will be part of the NRM’s annual “Please Touch” event - laid on for visitors with sensory, mobility or learning difficulties. As well as creating exciting rhythms and sounds with professional teacher Steve Hill, there will be train rides, demonstrations and talks to bring to life the story of the train. Platform 4 Theatre will team up with the Museum’s British Sign Language interpreter for their plays about the Japanese Bullet Train “Shinkansen” and the joys of sun, sea and sand for post-war holidaymakers in “Wish You Were Here”. Lifelong Learning & Gallery Programmes Officer Paul Swift, said: “Please Touch is a packed programme of events and activities for our visitors with disabilities. Visitors will have the chance to handle objects from the collections and hopefully experience the National Collection in a unique way.” 20 June 2007 |
