Three years ago, Ian Wright dreamed of proposing to his sweetheart at his favourite boyhood haunt, Peasholme Park in Scarborough

But his plans were thwarted when his partner, Elaine Boyes, was seriously injured in an accident.

Now, thanks to the National Railway Museum, the couple will finally see their dreams come true in style - when they return to their favourite seaside resort as husband and wife.

Ian (50) and Elaine (47), of Harrogate, were married on Friday 25 August and will travel first class on board The Scarborough Spa Express on Tuesday 29 August for their honeymoon.

Ian said:

“Peasholme Park was always a very special place for me as a boy. It would have been an ideal place for me to pop the question.
“Unfortunately, Elaine had a serious accident so I had to propose to her in hospital instead.
“When we were planning our wedding there was really only one place to go for our honeymoon - and we could hardly miss the chance to start our honeymoon on board The Scarborough Spa Express!”
