Christmas chaos as Santa encounters a wheelie big problem!

Christmas in York has been thrown into disarray this year after a navigational error meant Santa had to crash-land on the city’s newest landmark.

Every year, Santa makes a special trip to the National Railway Museum in Leeman Road for his guest appearances at the attraction’s spectacular ‘Old Time Christmas’ event.

But his flight path was disrupted this year by the sudden appearance of the brand new Norwich Union Yorkshire Wheel, resulting in near-disaster as his sleigh, and all nine reindeer, had to make an emergency landing on top of it.

The alarm was raised when a passer-by spotted “a big man in a red suit” waving from one of the wheel’s forty-two observation pods.

John Lowery, from World Tourist Attractions, said:

“The race is now on to rescue Santa in time for his appearance at the Old Time Christmas event, where there is a weekend of fun and frolics planned for all the family, but it won’t be the same unless we can get Santa down from the wheel in time.
“We have called in our specially trained maintenance crew to teach Santa how to abseil down the wheel safely. He’s great with chimneys and rooftops but was totally stuck at the top of our wheel!”
