Michael Aspel and Fearne Cotton get together for Junior Antiques Roadshow at the NRM

Antiques Roadshow presenter Michael Aspel will be joined by CBBC presenter Fearne Cotton  who hosts The Saturday Show, Smile and Top of the Pops Saturday for this special annual junior version of the Roadshow.

Among the experts present will beHenry Sandon, Hilary Kay, Tim Wonnacott, Bunny Campione, David Battie and Lars Tharp.

Hilary Kay, the show's toys and collectables specialist, explains the importance of retaining the original box in order to enhance the value of your collectables "Tell me how you came have this interesting item?"  a young collector is asked.

Antiques Roadshow - The Next Generation' is the special 'junior' version of the popular BBC programme Antiques Roadshow and this year is staged at the National Railway Museum in York, home to the world's largest collection of railway icons. The programme will be transmitted over the Christmas/New Year period.

This Roadshow is aimed specifically at children and young people under the age of 18 who are interested in knowing more about their own collections or family heirlooms. Items featured in the past have included fishing reels, paper knives, Cabbage Patch dolls, Second World War memorabilia, brooches & corkscrews.

A number of interesting items were brought in by children for appraisal by the team of experts but you will need to watch the show on BBC 1 to find out more!
