Description: British Railways (BRlys) 4-6-2 Class A4 No. 60022 Mallard former London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) 4-6-2 Class A4 No. 4468, in British Railways livery at Doncaster Works, 28 May 1951. This locomotive was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and built at Doncaster works. On 3 July 1938, at Stoke Bank between Grantham and Peterborough, Mallard travelled at 125 miles per hour, breaking the world speed record for a steam locomotive. Mallard was withdrawn from service in 1963 and is now part of the National Railway Museum's collection. It still holds the world record.
