The Railway Children

China 2008

Join us to celebrate Chinese culture throughout 2008. Enjoy a special exhibition of photographs by railway photographer Michael Rhodes, access to the Chinese Locomotive from 2 May and lots more.


Yorkshire Rose

New Model Army

New Model Army is a rock band with a world-wide fan base. During 30 years of recording and touring the travel experiences of the band have inspired many of their songs. In this exhibition the band members talk about traveling by train: the places they have been, the view from the windows and the people they have met.

Search Engine

At Search Engine, the National Railway Museum’s brand new Library and Archive Centre, we are opening up the Museum's hidden gems to the public. Behind the scenes at the NRM lies a vast archive holding all the NRM’s accumulated knowledge about the history of the railways.

Temporary exhibitions will be available to showcase the wealth of the archive, the latest of these being 'Case Studies' running from 23 June to November 2008.

The National Railway Museum in York is the largest railway museum in the world, responsible for the conservation and interpretation of the British national collection of historically significant railway vehicles and other artefacts.
