Flying ScotsmanTranscript of Exhibition Progress Film: Robin Clarke explains Land Design Studio's input into the new exhibition.DESCRIPTION: in the following video Robin Clark, a designer from Land Studio in London, describes ‘the look’ of the Flying Scotsman Story Exhibition. The film includes footage of the exhibition under construction and a ‘view from the window’ of Berwick upon Tweed. ROBIN CLARK: I am Robin Clark from Land Studio in London, and I lead a team of designers. These are graphic designers, audio visual designers and lighting designers, that have come together to bring you this new exhibition. The exhibition is presented on a ramped concrete platform allowing locomotive and carriage views for all visitors. The exhibition is surrounded by a stainless steel mesh wall. This provides tantalising glimpses as the visitor approaches, but also a certain amount of seclusion from the rest of the Warehouse. As the visitor approaches the main exhibition they are presented with eight detailed scale models of locomotives that have hauled the Flying Scotsman over its existence. Suspended above the locomotive is a dynamic four screen video installation showing the route of the Flying Scotsman from Kings cross to Waverley in forty minutes. The exhibition is divided into five areas - designers, admirers, owners, crew and passengers - and we tell the story through those five themes. The new exhibition has a strong new identity using predominantly black and yellow, supported by a series of other colours and textures drawn from the Museum collection. END |
