Flying ScotsmanFlying Scotsman nameplates and cufflinksFlying Scotsman nameplates launched. You’ve had the chance to wear Scotsman cufflinks on your sleeve, now you can have Flying Scotsman on your wall! The Museum has teamed up with TMB Art Metal again (creators of the popular Flying Scotsman cufflinks) to create a limited edition run of replica Scotsman nameplates – the perfect gift for the man who has everything!
A limited run of 80 special nameplates, cast from original Flying Scotsman metal from the locomotive’s old firebox removed during the ongoing restoration project, will be made to mark the 80th anniversary of the first non-stop ‘Flying Scotsman’ service from London to Edinburgh in 2008. The high-quality plates come with a stunning polished finish and are mounted on a solid oak back board. They are accompanied by a certificate, guaranteeing that they are cast entirely in authentic Flying Scotsman metal. TMB Art Metal is a specialist company dedicated to producing high-quality ‘provenance’ sculptures crafted from the original metal of the portrayed subject. All the Museum’s profits from the sale of the nameplates and ongoing sales of the cufflinks will be ploughed into the Keep Scotsman Steaming Appeal to support the restoration of this historic locomotive The nameplates will be made to order and retail at £1995.
