This scene shows a steam locomotive crossing the viaduct with a rainbow in the background and the River Weaver in the foreground with cows grazing. Engraved beneath the image are the following words: ‘ To George Stephenson, Esqre. This view of the Viaduct over the Valley of the Weaver on the CHESTER AND CREW RAILWAY, erected under the immediate superintendence of - Murray Gladstone Esqre "Assistant Engineer - is respectfully Inscribed by his obliged & humble servt" Chas F F Cheffins’.
