EducationYorkshire Rail AcademyThe Yorkshire Rail Academy was jointly developed by York College and the National Railway Museum. It was officially opened in May 2004 by the Rt Hon Charles Clarke, Secretary of State for Education and Skills. It has however been operational since September 2003. The Academy’s vision is that it will be the prime education and training centre for the rail industry in the Yorkshire Region and will play a key role in the emerging national network of rail training centres. The Academy provides progression for a wide range of learners, through the partnership of York College and the NRM learning opportunities will be provided in rail-related studies to school pupils, modern apprentices, adult life long learners, students in Higher Education and people carrying out research into the railway industry.
