Timetables
We have an extensive collection of timetables from 1839 up to the present day.
This collection includes the famous Bradshaw railway guide (as referred to in Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie novels). It also includes the timetables that the railway companies produced for their passengers and staff, called Working Timetables: these provide a real picture of how the railways ran, which can differ from the information given to the public.
We also have what are termed Appendices to the Working Timetables. These items provide a useful insight on the procedures used by staff to run the railways.
