Competition is now closed. Sorry if you came here from an NRM email and were expecting the competition to still be running – we got the date wrong on the newsletter.

We’ll be having a big, growling, rumbling mass start-up of diesel engines at 10:30 on October 16 – and one lucky winner will get to hop into the cab of our freshly repainted D6700 and start it up.

To enter, simply tell us your most interesting diesel-related story. Did you drive a diesel engine? Did you have an amusing encounter with one? What ignited your diesel passion? Tell us your tale, and if it’s the most interesting from all those we receive – in the opinion of our judges – you’ll get to press the D6700's start button on the big day.

Send us your story using the form below, remembering to include your name, address and contact telephone number. We'll publish some of the best here on the website.

You can email photographs to competitions@nrm.org.uk, but please no more than 3 pictures per entry, and make sure they’re less than 200Kb each.

Closing date is Friday 8 October 2010. Engine subject to change, and other terms and conditions apply

Best of luck!
