Restaurant

The restaurant in Station Hall and the Signal Box café in the Great Hall offer a full range of refreshments to suit all palates.

Play/picnic area

There is a picnic area in the South Yard and a railway-themed play area beside it.

Gift shop

Our two shops - the NRM Shop inside the entrance and the Great Hall Shop - also have an extensive range of railway related gifts, books, DVDs and souvenirs, including a large range of Thomas the Tank Engine items. (The shop inside the entrance will be closed from 16 Jan to 1 Feb - more info)

Lockers

Lockers are available within the museum at £1 per locker. Locker dimensions: 40cm deep, 24cm wide, 87cm tall. Larger luggage can also be left at the Left Luggage office at York Railway Station.

We now also have larger lockers that are 95cm deep, 45cm wide and 100cm tall. These are £2 (non refundable).

Accessible travel

Accessible parking is available outside our City Entrance (nearest the railway station). More details on our How To Get Here page.

Accessible facilities

Wheelchairs are available free of charge at both entrance and we have wheelchair accessible toilets. Support dogs are welcome. If you require a large print map on arrival, please ask at the admissions desk. Audio guides are currently unavailable.

Signed Saturdays

Signed Saturdays are not currently available, but we hope to replace them soon. Please check back here for updates.
