Draw us a picture – and it could travel to Japan!

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the National Railway Museum's partnership with our sister museums in Japan, the Modern Transportion Museum and the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum, we're launching an exciting art competition for children.

If your child loves to draw and would like the opportunity to have their artwork displayed in Museums around the world, read on!

The prizes

The art competition has 3 individual categories:

Under 6
6 – 8 years old
9 – 11 years old

The top 50 pictures across all three categories will be displayed in Japan at the Modern Transportation Museum (from 9 Oct – 5 Dec 2010) and Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum (from 11 Dec 2010 – 30 Jan 2011). The pictures will return to the NRM in summer 2011 – along with the winning entries from children in Japan – and displayed on Search Engine Balcony.

In addition, the top three pictures in each category will win a fantastic VIP Day at the National Railway Museum.

How to enter

Simply ask your child to draw/paint/make an A3 picture to fit the theme of Railways – which means they can draw anything they like to do with railway. How about drawing a favourite train, a railway crossing or a view from a train window? Be as creative and fun as you like! We're looking forward to seeing and sharing your child's masterpiece.
