Part of Science Week at the National Railway Museum.
Calling scientists of all ages: grab your safety goggles and get stuck in to a variety of workshops and displays (including glue making from milk). Uncover terrific scientific facts in our fun science trail, and watch our action-packed science shows.
Free activities include:
Animals In-Tuition – Learn about cold blooded animals by taking a closer look at some live snakes and other creatures.
Creepy Crawlies – OPAL and iSpot show you how to identify living creatures using the web.
Platform 4 Theatre – Sunny South Sam invites you to a 15 minute storytelling session.
Talking Textiles – Investigate different textiles with the Quilt Museum & Gallery, and find out who made them and what they are made from. Have a go at making your own ‘Talking Textile’.
The Pharma Farmers – A hands-on insight into the groundbreaking project from the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products.
Making Energy from Waste – Is sewage just a smelly nuisance? Find out from the Food & Environmental Research Agency how we can help the environment by wasting less and using more.
Light bulb power – Guess how long certain items can power a light bulb for, with the National Non Food Crops Centre.
Glue making from milk – The Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence show you how to make glue from waste milk and use it to create postcards about green chemistry.
