Ongoing cataloguing work

Because we have limited resources and large backlogs, cataloguing work in the NRM Archives is an ongoing process. Collections are prioritised for attention depending on a number of factors including public demand, availability of volunteers, external funding bids, the significance of the material, and what other projects the Museum has running. Work on the larger collections can be slow and take a great deal of time.

At the moment we’re working on:

  • Swindon Works drawings
  • Hugh C. Hughes papers (research into British locomotives, overseas railways)
  • Southern Railway carriage and wagon drawings
  • Improving access to the Timetables, Documents and Maps & Plans collections
  • Wolverton Works records including drawings (subject to external fundraising)
  • Hackworth family papers (subject to external fundraising)
