Climate Week 2012

The National Railway Museum is proud to be taking part in Climate Week, a national event from 12 – 18 March 2012 exploring how we can combat climate change. Thousands of businesses, charities, schools and councils are supporting the event.

During the week we will be exploring green transport and the idea that many small steps can add up to make a big change.

Help our Explainers walk the length of the East Coast Main Line.

Update: The walk around the turntable challenge was a huge success: we had 2,210 visitors take part. That's over double last year's total of 916. Visitors walked a combined total of over 88 miles (approximately the same distance as from London to just north of Peterborough). Thank you to everyone who took part in the challenge.

We worked out that our team of Explainers combined walk nearly 200 miles each week – that's the distance from London to York on the East Coast Main Line. During Climate Week, we’re asking our visitors to come and help us walk as far as we possibly can by walking around our Turntable in the Great Hall.

If you have any questions about the museum walk, email adam.fozard@nrm.org.uk or call 01904 685743.

Recycle your phone – and help raise funds for the Museum

Got an old mobile sitting in your drawer at home? Recycle it with us and you'll help us conserve our railway heritage for generations to come. We receive £5 on average for each phone recycled, so just five phones can help us provide a school with an educational learning pack.

Place your old handset(s) in a jiffy bag, include a note to say that you wish to donate the phone to the National Railway Museum, and send to:
